Volcano Orsono Feb 7th, 2016
After the Petrohue River we drove to the base of Volcano Orsono and took the chair lift up. The views of Llanquihue Lake and the Andes was spectacular!
PETROHUE RIVER Feb 7, 2016
Today we drove to this river that was filled with tourists. Chilean children are on summer vacation so I think all of Chile is camping and hiking.
My sister and I have not seen Rob for about 7 years.

Chiloe Feb 6, 2016
We took a ferry to the Island of Chiloe and then drove to the town of Castro. It reminded me alot of the San Juan Islands.
We visited Iglesias San Francisco painted yellow and purple, just my style.
All the houses here in Chile are wood with wood shingles.
We had lunch of Curanto, which is a wooded bowl filled with mussles, clams, pork, chicken and chorizo enough for two and heavy on the mussles and clams, my favorite. It came with a wonderful broth on the side for dipping.
Then we went on a short launch trip to see the parafitos, which are houses on tall stilts over the water. They used to be houses for poorer people, like houseboats, but now are becoming houses for the rich.
Camping on Lake Llanquihue-Feb 4, 3016
We are camping here for a few days and doing day trips.
The original plan was to take a short ferry then drive a ways and take a five hour inland passage ferry that connects to the Pan American Hwy. But the long ferry was booked with paid-for tickets for the next 6 days. So change of plans.

Goodbye again- November 2015
I am now home but wanted to end with this statue in Nora's neighborhood. It is a deer made of rebar and nuts and bolts. I think it is largely forgotten but it stands strong and guards over its domain.
It is hard for me to come home. Re-entery is always hard. I was looking forward to seeing Senor J, the kids and my house but I feel I belong in two places.
I feel I have family in two countries and homes in two countries.
I am one lucky woman..
